Depart early evening flight to Europe during which we will sit back and relax and enjoy a sumptuous meal.
Breakfast on the place before we land, then we go through passport control, pick up our luggage, and walk through customs. We are met outside the customs area by our friendly European Team of guide and motorcoach driver. Not far from the Munich airport we catch our first glimpse of the majestic Alps in the distance. A short, scenic one and 1/2 hour drive rings us into the imposing mountains of the Kitzbuhel Alps. Our home base for the next week is the charming Alpine Village in Tyrol, Austria. Breakfast and dinner are included each day.
Today we travel to the entrancing “Sound of Music” city of Salzburg. A walking tour includes the Cathedral, Getreidegasse shopping street, Mozart’s birthplace, the Abbey founded in 690 and the Hohensalzburg, Europe’s finest medieval fortress. Return via the Inn valley and the crystal-center town of Rattenberg.
Today is at leisure in your Alpine Village or enjoy a trip on the High Alpine Road to the glacier-clad Grossglockner pass.
Visit one of Germany’s greatest cities; see the Gothic City Hall with its famous Glockenspiel clock, the Residenz, Our Lady’s Church and the Olympic Grounds. Return in the evening to our mountain home.
A 3/4 day tour into Bavaria to visit the incredible castle on Herren Island (a replica of Versailles). Includes the boat ride to the island and a guided tour of the castle.
Drive over the Europa bridge and cross into Italy at the Brenner Pass; continue through mountainous South Tyrol and the majestic Dolomite Alps via Padova to Venice. Today we will drive to the renowned village of Oberammergau to the Oberammergau Festival House. Over 350 years of tradition unfold today as we thrill to this spectacular presentation of Christ’s Last Days and Passion. Hundreds of area villagers reenact these sacred events with austere pageantry in roles that are passed down from generation to generation within families. There is a break in the middle of the performance that allows for a delicious lunch at a local restaurant and some time for browsing through the shops that are known for their beautiful woodcarvings.
Transfer to Munich’s international airport for our flight back to the USA, the end of a paradisiacal Alpine Experience!
