14-Day Turkey/Greece Tour in the Footsteps
of St. Paul the Apostle hosted by Pastor Larry Myers:
Dear Mira:
I have just completed a two-week study tour with my
church group in Turkey and Greece that departed on April. This
trip was wisely arranged by our pastor through Creative Travel
Partners,
Inc. The tour included an international flight; two domestic
flights, an Aegean cruise and land travel in both Turkey
and Greece.
Creative Travel chose excellent hotels in good
locations with accessible sights and shopping. The hotels were
safe,
clean,
comfortable,
and provided very good food and a friendly and helpful
staff.
Guides chosen for both countries were excellent and
extremely knowledgeable. This trip was about the Apostle St.
Paul and the staff was very
knowledgeable about his travels and incorporated this
into their lectures. They were also very respectful of
our religious
beliefs.
The guides were able to answer any question posed to
them. Our guide in Turkey was outstanding and shared
personal knowledge about Turkish culture and the family life of
the Turkish
people, which
was extremely interesting. The guides were very in
tune
to make
sure that the needs of the group were met.
The buses
provided were very clean and comfortable. In Turkey the buses
were washed while we took our rest
stops!
It was
fun watching
them wash in entire bus in a few minutes. The drivers
were extremely well skilled and careful about our
safety on
roads that were
difficult to navigate and narrow. Someone always
helped the ladies off the
bus.
In Turkey, we were provided with water, tea and coffee
on the bus as part of their overall hospitality!
The Aegean cruise provided excellent food, comfortable rooms that
were clean and wonderful entertainment.
The shore excursions
were
well guided and interesting!
Overall, I found the
Turkish people extremely hospitable to Americans with a genuine
like for us. Many times
children would
wave to
the people on the bus or would try to talk English
to us when we stepped
off the bus. They were pleased to hear we were
Americans. A little girl in Turkey gave me one
of her rings
as a sign of
friendship.
Turkey is an extremely safe country to travel
in where security is taken seriously, especially at
the airport
at which they
did multiple security checks. At the hotels,
someone was always on
duty to see who entered and at the larger hotels
they had metal detectors at the doors.
In Greece, they are getting ready for the Olympics and much needs
to be accomplished.
The Greek people were friendly and helpful. The countryside of
Greece is very beautiful and must be seen to be appreciated.
I will
be traveling to Turkey and Greece again the summer of 2005 for
an international school psychology conference to be held in
Athens. I am arranging for a preconvention tour of approximately
25 school psychologists to experience Greece and Turkey in the
wonderful way that I have. I certainly will include Creative
Travel and their outstanding staff in my travel plans!
With warmest
regards,
