In the Footsteps of Paul

From Texas to Turkey and Greece we came,
To follow Paul’s footsteps with Pastor Gil Lain,
We cruised the Aegean to see firsthand
The regions where the Christian Church began.

We walked ancient cities where Paul first preached Christ,
And though they are now archaeological sites,
The Book of Acts came alive as we
Visited these places of antiquity.

Roman paganism and idolatry ruled the day,
Yet, “They received the word gladly,” the Scriptures say,
From Asia Minor to Europe, as Paul’s message was heard,
People believed and churches emerged.

In present-day times we are grateful to know
How the faithfulness of men helped Christianity grow,
We look at the history of the Church and see
That Christ dwells in hearts and not masonry.

The writings of the Apostles and John’s Revelation
Have inspired and empowered all future generations,
Like the Parthenon of Athens, the church has endured,
Its strong foundation, Christ and His Word.
