Home Safely from Germany
Dear Mira,
How are you? We pray all is well with you and your co-workers at Creative Travel.
We just wanted you to know that we returned safely from Germany yesterday after a most WONDERFUL two weeks in Germany! Thank you for all the arrangements you made for us, but especially for our excellent guide, Heike Merklein. She is extremely knowledgeable and a very personable and winsome woman, as well. Our Polish bus driver, Bogdan, was an excellent driver.
The hotels were all first class (no complaints whatsoever) and the meals they served us were excellent. The special city guides we had were all at the appointed places and were very good, as well. It was almost unbelievable that we had 10 straight days of blue skies and sunshine—perfect touring days, but it is dry in Germany. They were hoping for rain this weekend.
Reunified Germany is much more pleasant and economically sound than when we traveled in a divided Germany 40 years ago. Our people held up well. No one got sick and there was no lost luggage. Some couldn't make all the walking uphill, so they each did what they could. At times, a few just took a nap on the bus while we toured.
The itinerary was full and we were able to see many wonderful sites. Our youngest tour member was especially interested in medieval castles, so she was in heaven as we saw many. We all loved our cruise down the picturesque Rhine River and our last supper, which was outdoors and with music. We want to thank you again, Mira, for helping us arrange the itinerary to include Dresden. That city was a highlight for us with its beautiful old buildings, the rebuilt Frauenkirche, and the setting along the Elbe River.
I guess the only negative thing was the value of the dollar against the euro. Things were very expensive in Germany. We all noticed that it was possible to purchase many more items in Greece than in Germany.
We will be working on a journal of our days, which we will gladly share with you. It may take awhile, though, because our days were so full. We would be happy to recommend this particular tour to any Lutheran pastors who may want to consider going with members of their congregation.
Thanks again, Mira, to you and Larry at CTP who did so much for us.
God's peace to you,
Marilyn and Harry Edenfield
