DAY 01 USA / EUROPE / TEL AVIV
Our journey of a lifetime begins with an evening departure. After take-off, we will be served dinner and breakfast.
DAY 02 ARRIVE TEL AVIV
After a brief touchdown in Europe, we board our connecting flight to Tel Aviv. We arrive Tel Aviv in the afternoon. Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport we will be met by our agent who assists us through customs and security. Transfer to our motorcoach for sightseeing of Caesarea (Acts 9 & 25), view Mt. Carmel, and arrive in Netanya for late dinner and overnight.
DAY 03 TIBERIAS / JORDAN RIVER / BELVOIR / CANA / NAZARETH
Today we start our day with a visit to the River Jordan (Optional Baptismal Service). We continue to the Crusaders Fortress of Bel Voir "Star of the Jordan", overlooking the magnificent and breathtaking view of the Jordan Valley below it, the Gidean Mountains in the east across the valley, in Jordan, and the Sea of Galilee in the North. After lunch we travel north for Cana (John 2), then continue on to Nazareth (Luke 1 & 2). Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.
DAY 04 GALILEE / CAPERNAUM / MT. OF BEATITUDES / CAESAREA PHILIPPI
There is nothing quite like watching a sunrise on the Sea of Galilee from your guest house or from a boat. Today will include many biblical sites along the shore of the Sea of Galilee and in the Upper Jordan Valley: e.g. Boat ride across the Sea of Galilee; Capernaum (Matt. 4:13), Mount of Beatitudes (Matt. 57), Tabgha (Feeding of 5000; Mark 6), church of Peter of Primacy (John 21), Magdala (Matt. 15:39; Luke 8:2); Caesarea Philippi (Paneas; Mark 8:27), view Mt. Hermon (Deut. 3:8), Border of Lebanon (Josh. 11:17), and Hazor (Josh 11:10; 1 Kgs. 9:15). Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.
DAY 05 TIBERIAS / BETH SHAN / JERICHO / QUMRAN / DEAD SEA
Today we depart Tiberias and travel south for the Dead Sea. The highway we take will include many of the following biblical sites: Mt. Tabor (Judges 4); Ein Harod (Judg. 7:1); Beit Shean (1 Sam. 31:10); Jericho (Josh. 26; Mark 10:46; Luke 19:1) and Qumran the possible settlement of the first century sect known as the Essenes, the authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Following the road south along the western shore of the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on the earth. We will have time to enjoy a relaxing swim in the Dead Sea. Dinner and overnight at the Dead Sea and the wilderness of Judah.
DAY 06 DEAD SEA / EIN GEDI / MASADA / MT. NEBO / PETRA
Our first stop today will be Ein Gedi where David hid from King Saul. We continue south, for our next stop is Masada, where we will ascend high upon the wilderness mountain by way of the cable car to the fortress built by King Herod. Here we survey the ruins of the fortifications, waterworks, synagogue, temples and palaces. After stopping for lunch, we travel to the Allenby Bridge for Jordan. We make our way to Mt. Nebo, to stand where Moses stood to view the Promised Land. From here we travel south along the New King's Highway for Petra. We arrive Petra in time for a late dinner and overnight.
DAY 07 PETRA / JERUSALEM
Petra, "rose red city half as old as time." This ancient Edomite and Nabatean capital is an amazing example of prophecy. We'll see the spectacular "city of the dead." With its famed gorge, ancient streets, temples, dwelling places and tombs, carved in the solid rock. Then we arrive at El-Ji Post, and continue the one mile journey on horseback, or walk, passing through the famous Siq (the natural gorge) and arrive at the Treasury. In the afternoon, we visit Roman Temple Ruins of Roman City, Nabatean Judgment Hall, Palace Tombs, famous Urn Temple, Roman Amphitheater. Those willing to climb may view the Monastery, Jebel Harun (mountains of Aaron), supposed to be the burial place of Aaron. Horseback journey back to El-Ji Post. We return to back to the King Hussein Bridge for Israel. After border formalities, we travel to Jerusalem. The road from Jericho to Jerusalem is an ascent of 4000 feet in 13 miles. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
DAY 08 MT. OF OLIVE / TEMPLE MT. / VIA DOLOROSA / BETHLEHEM
We begin our explorations with a drive to the beautiful Mt. Of Olives to behold the breathtaking panorama of the Holy City. Our pilgrimage will proceed to the Church of Ascension, descend to Gethsemane with its ancient olive grove, and there visit the Church of Agony, where tradition holds that Jesus prayed. We will enter Jerusalem through the Dung Gate, and walk to the holiest site in the whole Jewish world, the Western Wall (Wailing Wall) of Herod's temple. Beyond the wall likes the 35 acre temple area purchased by King David (2 Sam. 24:18-25). On this site now stands the magnificent Dome of the Rock (the third holiest shrine in all Islam) and the El Aksa Mosque. From the temple area, we make our way to St. Stephen's Gate, St. Anne's Crusader Church, Pools of Bethesda, the Sister of Zion Convent (to see the Pavement where Jesus stood as he was being tried by Pilate), Ecco Homo Arch, and then follow the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the ancient Cardo. This afternoon we will pass by Rachel's tomb on the outskirts of Bethlehem, and visit the Church of the Nativity and Shepherd's Field. You will be fascinated by your visit to a model of Jerusalem near the Holyland Hotel (1 to 50 scale model of Herodian Jerusalem as it would have appeared in Jesus' time), Israel's Knesset, the huge bronze Menorah, and Yad Vashem.
DAY 09 THE UPPER ROOM / ISRAEL MUSEUM / GARDEN TOMB
We begin the day by driving to Ein Karem village, the birthplace of John the Baptist, to see the Church of Visitation, and then go to Mt. Zion, The Upper Room, where Jesus spent those last momentous hours with his disciples before his passion, and it was also here where the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples on Pentecost. From there we will go to the Israel Museum, including the Bronfman Archaeological Museum and the Shrine of the Book Museum, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed. Late in the afternoon we will visit the Garden Tomb: Communion service if desired.
DAY 10 JERUSALEM / DAY WITHOUT A PLANNED PROGRAM
Today is at leisure. Time to collect your thoughts, indulge in your whims. Revisit the places of most interest. The Rockefeller and Hebrew Museums display a wealth of archeological treasure. Return for a last look within the walls of the Old City, where bargaining is a must. Dinner and overnight Jerusalem.
DAY 11 JERUSALEM / TEL AVIV / EUROPE / USA
Morning transfer to the airport for our return flight home. The close of an unforgettable tour, we bring with us lasting memories of the Old and New Testament, a renewal of our faith, and a greater understanding of the life and ministry of our Lord.
