DAY 01 DEPART USA
Depart from your local airport for your transatlantic flight overseas. Dinner will be served en route.
DAY 02 ATHENS
On arrival in Athens, you will be met at the airport, assisted through customs and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore this ancient city.
DAY 03 ATHENS / CAPE SOUNION / ATHENS
This morning you will begin your tour by visiting some of the sights that makes Athens famous. First you will visit the awesome Acropolis with its spectacular view of the city below and admire one of the world's masterpiece's, the eternal Parthenon. You will also visit the Temple of Olympia Zeus, the Royal Palace and much more. In the early afternoon, you will drive along the coast to Cape Sounion which is dominated by the spectacular Temple of Poseidon, a tribute to the Greek god of the Sea. Return to Athens early in the evening. Overnight at your hotel.
DAY 04 ATHENS / AEGINA / HYDRA / POROS / ATHENS
After breakfast, you will be transferred to marina "flisvos", for a fantastic all day Saronic Island cruise to Aegina, Hydra and Poros. On the island of Aegina you will enjoy pine covered hills and valleys full of vineyards while
visiting the Temple of Aphea, the best preserved classical temple in all of the Greek islands. Next you will dock at Poros where you can enjoy the quaint beauty of the harbor town's white houses that seem to meet the shoreline. Finally you will see Hydra, the most famous of the Saronic islands. Here enjoy an "ouzo" at one of the small cafe's and drink in the atmosphere of this town which has been the site of more than one movie. Lunch will be served on board the ship. Return in the early evening and transfer to your hotel for overnight.
DAY 05 ATHENS / MYCENAE / EPIDAURUS / NAUPLIA / OLYMPIA
Depart by motorcoach to Mycenae, the stronghold of some of ancient Greece's most notorious figures. Here is where the famous golden mask of Agamemnon was
discovered and the home of the strange under ground "beehive" tombs of the kingdom's ancient royalty. Continue on to Epidaurus with its famous open-air amphitheater, known for its almost supernatuarally good acoustics. It is said that a whisper from the stage can literally be heard at the topmost of the theater's 55 rows. We will visit Nauplia, the first modern capital of Greece in 1829 before continuing through the Fabulous Greek countryside to Olympia for dinner and overnight.
DAY 06 OLYMPIA / PATRAS / DELPHI
In the morning we will visit idyllic Olympia where the Olympic Games were born. See the Temple of Zeus, Temple of Hera the famous Stadium and the Museum. Afterwards, drive on to Delphi for dinner and overnight at your hotel.
DAY 07 DELPHI
Tour Delphi where the Oracles held court. Visit the site starting from the Sacred Way flanked on either side by treasuries, monuments and ex-votos commemorating great events, up to the large Doric Temple of Apollo, dominating the whole landscape, the Theatre and the Stadium. Also visit the Castallian Spring and the Museum, housing the unique statue of Charioteer. Overnight at your hotel in Delphi.
DAY 08 DELPHI / KALAMBAKA / METEORA
After breakfast, we depart for Kalambaka. Visit Meteora with its ancient monasteries perched on 1,500 foot spires of rock. This is one of the most fascinating sights you will ever see. Dinner and overnight in Kalambaka.
DAY 09 VERIA / VERGINA / THESSALONIKI
From Kalambaka, we will depart north for Thessaloniki. Drive through Trikala, Larissa, and Aiginion to Vergina. Here you can explore the newly discovered tomb of Philip of Macedonia. Among the richest finds are gold urns, golden wreaths, silver vessels all housed in the museum of Thessaloniki. Continue on to Veria and overnight in Thessaloniki.
DAY 10 THESSALONIKI / PHILIPPI / KAVALA
A full day of touring includes Amphipolis-Philippi where St. Paul first preached in Europe. Visit the archaeological sites (Forum Romanum) ruins of two Basilicas, the Theatre, the Prison of St. Paul and St. Lydia's Baptistery. Then on to Kavala. Return to Thessaloniki for dinner and overnight.
DAY 11 THESSALONIKI / PELLA
Today visit the Thessaloniki Museum with the fabulous golden Verginia Treasures, the Byzantine churches and the Roman ruins. In the afternoon visit Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia, birthplace of Alexander the great, where you will see excavation grounds, the famous mosaic floors and a collection of ancient relics from the 4th century. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.
DAY 12 THESSALONIKI / DION / ATHENS
After breakfast depart for Athens, via Dion, the sacred town of Macedonia with an uninterrupted period of 800 years under the shadow and beauty of Mount Olympus. Arrive Athens in the early evening. Dinner and overnight in Athens.
DAY 13 ATHENS
Full day at leisure. Take a stroll through the Plaka, the Greek shopping area, or visit the Athens museum. This evening you will be whisked away for your Athens - by - Night Tour, with a visit to the Sound & Light performance followed by a dinner at a typical Greek Taverna with floorshow.
DAY 14 ATHENS / USA
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight homeward. The close of an unforgettable trip.
