DAY 01 – USA
Tour members depart International Airport on their flight for Geneva,
Switzerland. Meals will be served according to airlines schedule.
DAY 02 – GENEVA
Late morning arrival into Geneva where we will be met and assisted
through customs by our land operator and transferred to our hotel.
Remainder of the afternoon is at leisure for us to relax and refresh
before we have our welcome dinner together. Overnight in Geneva.
DAY 03 – GENEVA / LAUSANNE / MONTREAUX / CASTLE OF CHILLON
Our shoreline drive along Lake Geneva takes us to Nyon, Aubonne
and Lausanne, resort city with wide boulevards, beautiful estates
and gardens. We then drive through the vineyard region to Montreaux
and visit the 19th Century Castle of Chillon, former fortress of
the Dukes of Savoy and subject of Lord Byron's "The prisoner of
Chillon" before returning to Geneva. Dinner and overnight in Geneva.
DAY 04 – GENEVA / BERNE / INTERLAKEN / CHUR & ST. MORITZ
Our beautiful day across Switzerland takes us through some of the
most magnificent scenery in the world. We stop in Berne for brief
sightseeing before continuing to beautiful Interlaken, then to Chur
and to St. Moritz. Dinner and overnight in Interlaken.
DAY 05 – ST. MORITZ / INNSBRUCK
Today we cross from the Swiss Alps to the Austrian Alps through
an area considered by many to be the most beautiful in the world.
We will enjoy deep blue lakes, airy larch forests that turn golden
in the fall, mountain peaks exceeding 12,000 feet and quaint villages
as we enter the Inn Valley to beautiful Innsbruck. Dinner and overnight
in Innsbruck.
DAY 06 – INNSBRUCK / SALZBURG
Morning sightseeing in this beautiful Tyrolean City which includes
the Goldenes Dachl (golden roof of Emperor Maximillian's Balcony)
and a stroll through the old town and down Maria Theresian Strasse
before continuing to Salzburg, the City of Music and birthplace
of Mozart. Dinner and overnight in Salzburg.
DAY 07 – SALZBURG / VIENNA
This morning our sightseeing drive includes Mozart's Birthplace
and Museum, the Residence Palace, Glockenspiel Tower, Schloss Mirabell
and Hellbrun Castle before continuing to beautiful and enchanting
Vienna. Dinner on our own tonight. Overnight in Vienna.
DAY 08 – VIENNA
Our sightseeing of Vienna starts out at the lavish terraced gardens
of Prince Eugene's Belvedere Palace, driving along sumptuous Ring
Boulevard, past Emperor Franz Joseph's Palace, the Bury Theatre,
State Opera and University. Then we continue on to the Prater Amusement
Park, United Nations City and St. Stephen's Cathedral. Afternoon
at leisure. Dinner on our own again tonight. Overnight in Vienna.
DAY 09 – VIENNA / MELK / SALZKAMMERGUT / MUNICH
Today we drive east past St. Polten and stop at Melk Abbey, one
of the world's most beautiful baroque buildings. We then continue
via Lynx to Traunsee to see the Salzkammergut, one of Europe's most
delightful resort regions. You'll be reminded of the VonTrapp Family
and the Sound of Music before continuing to the superhighway to
Munich. Dinner and overnight in Munich.
DAY 10 – MUNICH
Our tour of Germany's "secret capital" includes the Olympic Stadium,
1000 foot high television tower, Nyphenburg Palace, the Oktoberfest
Area, Marien Platz, with the Old and New Town Hall and the Gothic
Frauenkirche. We will also see the Old Pinakothek with its precious
collection of paintings by Durer, Cranach and Rubens. Dinner on
our own again tonight. Overnight in Munich.
DAY 11 – MUNICH/ETTAL/LINDERHOF CASTLE/MUNICH
Today we travel into the heart of the Bavarian Alps. We will enjoy
Ettal Abbey for pictures and maybe a taste of the famous "Klosterlikor"
charming Linderhof Castle, once the hunting retreat of Bavarian
Royalty. Return to Munich for dinner and overnight.
DAY 12 – MUNICH/USA
Morning transfer to Munich Airport for our return flight homeward.
We take with us lasting memories and new found friendships.
