Subject: Revised rates for 2009 to Israel-Jordan- Europe
Dear Larry,
How can we explain to our folks all these increases that are hitting us at every corner and every day. Everybody is now adding a postscript with the confirmation of space and rate "in case there is further devaluation in the dollar." There are "No" more standard rates, at least for a while until the market stabilizes some.
If you speak about increases here are some hard facts. Grand Court, Grand Beach and Jordan River have increase their rates by $30.00 per night and in some really busy periods they go up to USD 40.00 P.P. per night and do not even ask what happens on the Jewish high holidays of Pessach and Succoth.
The way the demand is going now, my suspicion even next year with all these increases, I just do not see a let down in the market that will push the rates downward -even if the dollar regains its strength. The law of very high demand and limited supply has taken over in the real sense of the word. I have dealt with peak seasons before; but, I have not witnessed anything of the sort in either Israel or in Jordan. The whole year is a peak season now with super peak periods within. The new land rates for Jordan have been increased by almost 40% within one year.
However, I felt very good recently. One of my lady guides came for a break very recently to Rome. We went out to lunch and she told me how lucky I am in the way my office runs and what minimal problems we have with groups. I said to her what are you talking about? She told me that whatever problems we have, is nothing compared to what she witnessed lately with other agents she works with and my friend she works with some name brands in Israel. I guess what she is saying must be true, as we had some US based agents coming to us out of the blue wanting to work with us. There must have been some real disasters out there. Some of the companies that we acquired in the past month were substantial companies and you would think that the local agents will protect that business with everything they have!!!
The question now; is how do we together navigate through these unchartered waters with completely new forms of turbulence of the new realities of the Holy Land market. How do we protect our clients. How do we explain ourselves. My friend; I personally am not really sure how as yet, except not to take things for granted, to care enough and to KEEP INVESTING IN OUR REPUTATIONS.
Warm Regards
Hani
